Netflix clogs up Australia broadband pipes

[1] Industry sources have raised concerns over Australia’s unquenchable appetite for on-demand video services such as Netflix that is likely to lead to slow internet speeds because of increased congestion.

[2] The “Netflix effect” has caused the doubling of broadband traffic over the nation’s fixed-line networks since the launch of streaming services in March.

[3] Netflix’s launch has exploded on Telstra’s network, accounting for as much as 15 per cent of the telco giant’s total consumer traffic.
