Drivers to get real-time information on Sydney roads

[1] The state of NSW has kicks off planning for ‘smart motorways’ where the NSW roads authority will broadcast real-time advice on traffic conditions to Sydney drivers via new electronic messaging signs.

[2] This follows the new funding of real-time information scheme in the today’s state budget at a figure of $9 million on top of the $2 million already spent.

[3] The variable message signs (VMS) will provide travel time estimates and dynamic updates of traffic accidents in addition to installing CCTV installations across 20 intersections.
