Smart parking for Canberra means pain and convenience through use of sensors and Wi-Fi

[1] The government is set to trial the “smart parking” technology in Canberra which will come as improved convenience through the introduction of car park sensors and digital signage.

[2] Tender documents released by Chief Minister Andrew Barr show that there will a 12-month trial from early 2016, where drivers overstaying their paid parking will be noted through in-ground sensors.

[3] The New system would allow for drivers to pay for exactly the amount of time they park and also benefits from new smartphone “way-finding” applications alerting them to available parking spaces.
