[1] The telco industry is getting nervous about the government’s proposed data retention regime, sighting that the government is sneaking the legislation through parliament without being clear on metadata costs.

[2] The management of major telcos has expressed the concerns to the Attorney General and Communications Minister to clarify on the cost the government will cover in the metadata law implementation.

[3] This is after the Coalition government stated that it was willing to make a “substantial” contribution without stating the exact amount.
