On-demand cleaning startup WHIZZ closes $2 million Series B round six months after launch

The launch of startup WHIZZ was the culmination of growing business potential in home cleaning, in and out of Sydney. WHIZZ follows the likes of Urban Outsource and TidyMe, that offer similar services – but the number of users has steadily grown in Australia.

WHIZZ is a dedicated platform for connecting people looking for home cleaning services with top-quality, pre-screened independent cleaners in Australia, charging a fixed service fee based on the number of rooms and bathrooms that require cleaning.

Its flat fee pricing model ensures the cost of a clean is set prior to the order. Users have the option of booking a single or reoccurring clean and add it to their iPhone Calendar, with a reminder feature in place for the next scheduled clean.  In addition, it presents ‘WHIZZ HQ’ which tracks where cleaners are throughout the day and can inform customers about a delay ahead of a schedule.

WHIZZ is available as a web, iPhone and Apple Watch app. The latter incorporates an alert – known as a ‘WHIZZard’ that informs when the cleaner is on the way, when they have arrived and when they are finished.

WHIZZ is based in Sydney and owned by an Australian team made up of Mark Bernberg, Adam Abrams and Julian Tobias. Mark is the man behind Fiveplus and SkyFii, while Julian has links with The Island and C Coconut Water.

The Sydney-based startup recently hit a $2 million Series B funding round just six months after its launch. The investment was secured from five high-profile Australian investors including Tom Krulis, CEO of Godfreys; Simon Rothery, CEO of Goldman Sachs and Alex Waislitz, Founder of Thorney Investment Group, among others.
