[1] Telstra has been contracted for ten-years by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to supply, maintain and enhance ARTC’s 8500km national rail freight network with the Telstra-powered National Train Communications System (NTCS).
[2] This involves the use of the Telstra NextG network, applications such as real-time locomotive tracking, safe travelling distance technology (proximity alerting) and sophisticated track and wayside monitoring technology, among others.
[3] Telstra will also transition ARTC to a private Cloud environment built on VCE Vblock that will reduce the resources required to host applications.
