First digital map of seafloor reveals kaleidoscope of diversity

[1] The first digital map of the planet’s deep sea geological seascape has been developed, revealing a kaleidoscope of diversity.

[2] According to geophysicist Dietmar Muller from Sydney University’s school of geosciences, the 2015 version uses 13 colours to map the different kinds of sea floor geology

[3] The only other map of the sea floor is the 1970’s hand drawn map that used only five-colour keys and relied heavily on assumption.
