Australia-wide missing persons matching system to go live next week

[1] CrimTrac, Australia’s law enforcement information-sharing agency, is set to switch on a new system that will allow Australian police to compare human remains to long-time missing persons.

[2] This is good news for loved ones of an estimated 1600 long-term missing persons in Australia, especially those unaccounted for longer than six months.

[3] The system will enable investigators to run DNA and other forensic characteristics of the missing individuals against human remains collected and recorded since the 1960s.
