Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) warns against tax time phishing attacks

[1] ACMA is warning against the ‘financial institutions smart phish’ campaign, which it claims can ‘dynamically adapt its content to request customer credentials for almost every financial institution currently operating in Australia.’

[2] The authority argues that tax-related phishing attacks ‘will ramp up around tax return time’, and therefore, cautions customers not to be caught out by sophisticated phishing scams.

[3] People are getting affected emails on their email inboxes with an attached HTML file and a message encouraging recipients to open up the file.
