Senate passes bill to establish e-Safety Commissioner

[1] The Australian Senate has passed a bill to establish a new position of children’s e-Safety Commissioner who will be tasked with protection of children on the web.

[2] The Enhancing Online Safety for Children Bill 2014 saw great support in the senate, and the government is expected to name the new commissioner in a few weeks.

[3] The next step will be to establish a fully running operational office for the commissioner and launch an effective complaints system to capture harmful cyber-bullying materials from the web.
