GST exemption on overseas sale ‘not fair’: Frydenberg

[1] New Australian assistant treasurer Josh Frydenberg has termed the application of GST to online overseas sales of less than $1000 is unfair to taxpayers.

[2] He said that the 10 percent exception on goods and services for overseas online retailers was not a level playing field for taxpayers and retailers.

[3] He compared the exception with other comparable countries like Canada where the fee is much lower at ($C20) and no exemption at all in the United States.
