The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) proposes ‘superfast’ broadband regulation

[1] The ACCC has released a draft proposal to declare a Superfast Broadband Access Service (SBAS) in order to prevent any localised monopoly on provisioning.
[2] Superfast broadband services are supported by fibre-to-the-basement (FTTB), fibre-to-the-premise (FTTP), hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) and very high-bit-rate digital subscriber line (VDSL). [3] The ACCC is concerned that a localised monopoly could happen unless regulation around access to networks is put in place.
