Australia considering passport-less travel

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has confirmed that Australia is in discussions with New Zealand over the possibility of shunning physical passports and instead storing the same identifying data electronically.

[2] This developments follows the department earlier this year called for call for suggestions earlier this year that would transform the agency’s operations as part of an “ideas challenge”.

[3] The So-called “cloud passports” won the judges over and took the top spot in the competition – meaning travellers do not need to carry a physical passport, but verified using biometric data.
