[1] The CSIRO’s Digital Productivity group and NICTA will soon merge to create a new organisation named ‘Data61’.
[2] CSIRO chief executive, Larry Marshall, said in a Senate estimates hearing in June that many job positions would be affected as a result of the merger – mostly backroom support staff.
[3] The new organization will be mandated with producing focused research that will deliver strong economic returns and put Australia at the forefront of digital innovation.
