TasWater deploys drones in $15m dam project

[1] Tasmania’s statewide water corporation TasWater has deployed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as part of the initial design and investigation phase of its $15 million upgrade of the Ridgeway Dam.

[2] The deployment of the UAVs will be critical ahead of wall strengthening work and attachment of an impermeable membrane to the upstream face of the dam planned for 2016 to 2017.

[3] The purpose of the UAVs is to “collect a lot of data” ahead of construction works to extend the productive life of the historic water storage facility.
