Christmas Island to get first access to broadband Internet

[1] Christmas Island is set to have its first broadband Internet access through global satellite services provider O3b and managed Australian network provider SpeedCast.

[2] In the deal, O3b will enable SpeedCast’s customer, the Christmas Island Internet Administration (CIIA) to have high throughput, low latency connectivity to facilitate broadband access.

[3] The CIIA has been relying on geostationary satellite (GEO) connectivity for internet access and the use of O3b satellites, which are closer to earth, will reduce latency and increase internet speed.
