NBN high-speed internet hype falls short for some

[1] Australia is way behind Hong Kong when it comes to internet speeds and many consumers get little more than ADSL2 speeds even in areas lucky enough to get full fibre.

[2] The technology gap was on show last week as Hong Kong Telecom (HKT) Group announced the telco’s planned 10 gigabit per second service rollout.

[3] HKT customers enjoy at least 100Mbps, a download speed which is the maximum available to most Australian consumers, and NBN’s FTTH offers little more than ADSL2 throughput.
