Uber set to challenge tax ruling

[1] Uber is considering legal action to challenge ATO’s decision that requires its drivers in Australia to pay GST in line with taxi operators.

[2] Its over 9,000 Australian drivers now have until August 1 to get an ABN and register for GST.

[3] The point of disagreement is on its classification, where Uber says its drivers, who typically earn $30,000 a year, should not pay tax on their first dollar earned.
