Piracy website blocking bill could be expensive game of “whack-a-mole”: ACCAN

[1] The Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN) has raised its concerns with the federal government over the anti-piracy website blocking bill saying that it could turn out to be expensive.

[2] This comes after a Dutch research showed that site blocking against file sharing often has an immediate effect, but this fades out after six months as new pirated materials emerge.

[3] ACCAN has urged the Government conduct a cost benefit analysis of the Copyright Amendment (Online Infringement) Bill 2015 and to remove ambiguity around VPNs.
