Court ruling on whether Australian ISPs must hand over customer data over movie downloads

[1] The Hollywood studio appealed to iiNet (and other Australian ISPs) to reveal the identity of customers’ IP addresses who were involved in the illegal sharing of the film, Dallas Buyers Club.

[2] Federal Court Justice, Nye Perram announced its ruling which was in favor of the Dallas Buyers Club LLC.

[3] With the newly released ruling, the company will be provided with the offenders’ contact details and will be able to chase after their compensation.
