Police access phone and internet data 1200 times a week

[1] Victoria Police is pursuing to access phone and internet data at a minimal 1200 times a week.

[2] Privacy advocates are concerned that these numbers will increase once “data retention” plans are pushed through.

[3] Security agencies believe that metadata is significant in stopping terrorism and resolving crimes, but are unable to give the number of convictions that have been aided with use of metadata.
