The Government Has Given ISPs and Copyright Owners a Deadline to Create an Online Piracy Code

[1] The federal government has given an ultimatum for internet service providers and copyright owners to draft an online piracy code within four months.

[2] In addition, the government is also making a law which would enable courts to prohibit foreign hosted websites that promotes copyright infringement.

[3] Once the code is drafted, this would be included in the  Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) under Part 6 of the Telecommunications Act 1997 (the Telecommunications Act).
