New internet cable’s legal hurdle

[1] Spark, Vodafone and Telstra are planning to put up US$70 million (NZ$90m) subsea cable across the Tasman.

[2]  Several agencies like the Commerce Commission, Telecommunications Users Association and the Institute of Information Technology Professionals are skeptical about this plan because of the implications of competition.
[3] Spark chief executive Simon Moutter confirmed that there’s nothing to be skeptical about it because there aren’t any competition issues.
