Tight purse-strings thwart tech research

[1] Australia’s ICT research community is undergoing a major crisis.

[2] Hugh Durrant-Whyte resigned as CEO of NICTA after disagreements on budget cuts and the research centre’s merger with CSIRO.

[3] NICTA does important research in ICT; however, it needs assistance from the government, the IT industry and from the companies who utilize IT research.
