New technology to be deployed for the National Broadband Network (NBN)

[1] The Australian government has made changes to the NBN project and announced that it will not offer fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) in all Australian locations.

[2] It will, however, use a mix of cost effective technologies that could still ensure a wide penetration of broadband internet access.

[3] The changes will see businesses and homes that are not yet connected access internet through a local broadband hub. This will reduce the project cost from the original AU$41 billion to AU$29.5 billion.
